"As a physician, I know there is no cure for
psoriasis Psoriaway® supplied to me has been very
useful to my wife. It is particular good for scalp
lesions and for resistant lesions on the skin over
joints. I recommend that both patients and physicians
add it to their armamentarium."

"Many repeat customers have described to us how
Psoriaway has helped their condition. We definitely
recommend Psoriaway to any person suffering from
psoriasis. We have sold 276 bottles of PSORIAWAY at
this location in the past 4 months. Our second
location, Golden Gate Pharmacy had sales just as
impressive. We have many repeat customers who have
described to us how PSORIAWAY has helped their
condition. We would definitely recommend PSORIAWAY to
any patient suffering from psoriasis or any retailer
looking for a good product to offer their

Local psoriasis sufferer markets his own creation to
treat the disease
By LAURA LAYDEN, lllayden@naplesnews.com
John DelleCave knows how difficult it can be to live
with psoriasis.
That's because he does it every day. He's had the
disease, which causes scaly patches on his skin and
scalp, for years.
John DelleCave of MBA Pharmaceuticals in Naples holds
a leaf cut from an aloe patch he grows at his office.

His own suffering has led him to create Psoriaway, an
over-the-counter aloe-based lotion he says can help
control the disease.
After three years of development and research,
DelleCave, who has been in Naples since 1969, recently
began selling his product at local drug stores
including the Golden Gate Pharmacy on Collier
Boulevard and the Fifth Avenue South Pharmacy in
downtown Naples. He hopes to get Psoriaway distributed
nationwide, and just received his first big shipment
of 2,500 bottles.
"I use it on a regular basis and it works really,
really good," said DelleCave, president of
Naples-based MBA Pharmaceuticals.
While there are more than 300 drugs on the market to
treat psoriasis, the local business owner's product
seems to have a lot of promise. More than 7 million
people have psoriasis, a chronic skin condition that
most often causes inflamed lesions on the body and
head. The disease is incurable, and usually shows up
in people between the ages of 15 and 35.
"People with psoriasis have been very open about
trying new remedies," said Molly Marshall, a
spokeswoman for the National Psoriasis Foundation in
Portland, Ore. "It's unusual how many different
things they will try for the treatment of their
disease. What works for one person doesn't necessarily
work for another. Because it's a lifelong disease,
they need a lot of options."
Before launching his product, DelleCave handed out
trial bottles of his lotion to local doctors and
dermatologists. As their patients tried Psoriaway,
they began asking for more.
Robert Boyd Tober, chairman for the department of
emergency and ambulatory medicine for NCH Healthcare
System, has used Psoriaway to treat patients at local
nursing homes, and as a volunteer at The Neighborhood
Clinic. He's seen excellent results.
"There was good feedback from the patients on
Psoriaway," he said.
Keith Waterhouse, a 73-year-old retired professor of
surgery from New York who lives in Bonita Springs,
received some free samples for his wife, and he says
the lotion has been effective.
People with psoriasis have to constantly rotate the
products they use, or else they become ineffective,
Waterhouse said.
So, the more treatments there are the better.
"The problem with psoriasis is that it is not
curable," he said.
"It's treatable and not curable.
Many products will help you, but then tend to help for
only a period of time."
His wife Anne, 69, has suffered with the disease since
she was 12. She has scaly lesions on her body and
head, and Waterhouse says he's eager for DelleCave to
develop a shampoo that his wife can use to treat her
scalp and wash her hair.
He welcomes anything that makes life easier for his
wife of 47 years.
"Treating the disease can be very time
consuming," he said.
"It's very tedious. My father had psoriasis and
he was so bad that he used to spend one day every week
in the outpatient center getting treatment."
Psoriaway, which has met the FDA's requirements to be
sold over the counter, differs from many of the other
products that are on the market, DelleCave said.
Unlike other treatments, it does not contain salicylic
acid or alcohol, which both can both dry the skin.
Also, it retails at $24.95, making it less expensive
than many other products.
